The Mystery Craters were something I fancied a look at on the way back up North, on the way to Rockhampton, to break up the drive. They were located just off of our route and have been turned into a shabby tourist attraction. They are a group of twenty-odd craters the cause of which, geologists have failed to agree on. Some hold water, whilst others don’t. Some are said to be in the shape of giant footprints. They were discovered several decades ago by the farmer who owned the land when he was digging up the field.
When I went in I was the only one there, which was quite nice. It didn’t take long to walk around, but that may have been as I was hot, but was a nice break from the drive. One of those things that’s nice to say you’ve seen it but not that exciting when you’re there!
